Charles Bernard Hansberry, III, Esq. PIR is the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Property and Casualty at the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Mr. Hansberry is a 1996 graduate of Louisiana State University and a 1999 graduate of the Southern University Law Center. Subsequent to his graduation from law school, Mr. Hansberry served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ralph E. Tyson, Judge, Division C of the United States District Court, Middle District of Louisiana. From November of 2001 to June of 2007, Mr. Hansberry served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Louisiana Department of Justice. At such time, Mr. Hansberry was assigned, on inter-agency transfer, to the Louisiana Department of Insurance, where for three years, he served as legal counsel to the Louisiana Insurance Rating Commission. In 2007, Mr. Hansberry assumed the role of Director of the Insurance Rating Division, Office of Property and Casualty. In 2014, Mr. Hansberry assumed his current role of Assistant Deputy Commissioner.
In the civic arena, Mr. Hansberry has served as a mentor for the Young Leaders Academy, a member of the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Baton Rouge and a 2004 graduate of Leadership-Greater Baton Rouge. Mr. Hansberry is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is married to Dr. Kasan Stevens, D.D.S. and has two sons, Chase and Kye.
